Chief Patron - AURGRFN.K. Premachandran, a prominent Indian politician, currently serves as the Member of Parliament from Kollam Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala. He brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously held the position of Minister for Water Resources in the Kerala government, where he oversaw various aspects of water management. Beyond his political endeavours, Premachandran is also recognized for his eloquent public speaking skills and has authored "Oh Iraq," a book that draws from his experiences while traveling to Iraq.
In addition to his political and literary accomplishments, N.K. Premachandran holds the esteemed position of Chief Patron for the Airline Users' Rights and Grievance Redressal Forum (AURGRF). This role underscores his unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and addressing the concerns of airline passengers.
Furthermore, he has played a pivotal role in addressing concerns related to the safety of the Mullaperiyar Dam and initiated several innovative projects within the drinking water sector. Notably, he established the consultancy division known as Wascon under the Kerala Water Authority and championed the idea of a bottled water plant and a pipe factory.
Premachandran’s academic journey is equally remarkable. He completed his BSc at Fathima Matha National College in Kollam and excelled in his LLB studies at Government Law College in Thiruvananthapuram, securing record-breaking marks and earning the first rank in 1985. His political journey began with his involvement in the student organization affiliated with the Revolutionary Socialist Party. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions at both the state and national levels, serving as a Member of the Navaikulam Grama Panchayat, being elected as a Member of the District Panchayat, and representing the Kollam Constituency in the Lok Sabha on multiple occasions. Additionally, he secured a seat in the Rajya Sabha in 2000 and served as a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from the Chavara assembly constituency in Kollam district, where he held the position of Minister for Water Resources from 2006 to 2011.
In the 2019 Indian general election, N.K. Premachandran achieved a remarkable victory in the Kollam constituency, winning by a record margin of 1.5 lakh votes. His legislative accomplishments include introducing a private member bill in the 17th Lok Sabha aimed at overturning the Sabarimala verdict, marking a significant achievement. Throughout his political journey, he has received numerous accolades and awards, including the Best Minister award from Asianet Channel, recognizing his contributions to the water sector and his efforts in handling interstate water disputes such as the Mullaperiyar issue. His academic excellence is further highlighted by his LL.B. from Kerala University, where he earned the distinction of being a Gold Medallist in 1985.
Beyond politics, N.K. Premachandran’s influence extends to various trade unions, including IRE, KMML, FACT, HMT, NTC Mill, and TTP, among others. His exceptional parliamentary performance has earned him several prestigious awards, including the Kak Sowal Foundation's Best Performing Parliamentarian Award, the LokMat Media Group's Best Parliamentarian of the Year Award, the Sansad Ratna Award from Prime Point Foundation Chennai, and the Best Parliamentarian Award from Fame India and Asia Post. Additionally, he received the "Rashtra Seva Award 2018" and the "Best Debater Sansad Ratna Award 2019," both presented by Prime Point Foundation and the e-magazine Presence. His influence as an MP was further acknowledged with the "Most Influential MP Award," also awarded by Fame India and Asia Post.
